Not so Holiday, 'Holiday' Sessions in Scottiebe Lifestyle Studio. | Buffalo, NY.

So if you know me, then you know I am not too keen on your typical Christmas photos. For the first few years we were married and had our son, I was like sure, we will dress up in what you think of when you think of Holiday clothing, pose with a tree etc. and send out a card to all of our family and friends. I love receiving them, and giving them, but at the end of the season I was left with now what do I do with these photos?

Now, if you are the traditional Holiday shoot person, I am not knocking it! As long as you get those photos taken, and those memories made, at the end of the day that is ALL that really matters. I just personally wouldn’t hang up red and green Christmas themed photos on my wall all year round.

So this year I decided to give my clients another option, a VERY Scottiebe option. Not so Holiday… ‘HOLIDAY’ Sessions. An in studio mini styled shoot with very muted, neutral tones to fit into every household and very subtle hints to the Holiday season. Photos, that you want to hang on your walls all year round, that are playful and pretty!

First I connected with Williams Florist to create this beautiful, one of a kind hanging floral display. I gave Williams florist an inspiration board with the tones, and vibes that I liked and specifically said I would like something unique that screams Scottiebe. And somehow they magically and skillfully created the masterpiece you will see below! You can watch Williams florist creating the floral installation HERE. (PLUG- THEY COME HIGHLY RECCOMENDED! EVERYTHING THEY TOUCH TURNS TO GOLD!)

Next I collaged together an inpiration What to wear board for each client, with suggestions on Tones, Colors, Pattens, etc that will stand out with the set up. I also gave suggestions as to what colors to stay away from to avoid clashing. These were obviously optional suggestions but my clients seemed to really like having a little bit of guidance and direction!

Our shoots were 3 back to back days. My goal with these sessions is to have each session a little bit different then the last. I had one family wrap each other up with wrapping paper, one family decorated a mini Christmas tree, another had a snowball fight with marshmellows, and of course they all got snuggly in some way shape or form! We kept them light and fun for the kiddos and made some fun memories for them in the process!

I am so thankful to my clients who joined in on the Not so Holiday ‘ Holiday’ Sessions this year. I am thinking these are just going to have to be a new tradition around Scottiebe!

Happy Holidays!
